Faisal Kamiran is the director of Data Science Lab (DSL) and an assistant professor at Information Technology University of The Punjab.  He has worked for over 6 years on creating data analytics solutions to guide government and corporate entities. Faisal received his PhD degree in data analytics and machine learning from The Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands in 2011. Afterwards, he joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) as a post-doctorate fellow. As a part of his doctoral research, he developed discrimination-aware modeling techniques, which are directly applicable to the legal, social, and economic domains. As an evidence, The Dutch Department of Justice (WODC) and The Dutch Central Bureau of Statistic (CBS) have applied his developed techniques to avoid racial and gender discrimination in the models they develop to support the decision makers in The Netherlands. 

Faisal’s research interests include fairness-aware data analytics to safeguard the rights of the deprived communities, ICTD, social media analytics, text mining, etc. He has already published more than 25- refereed papers in various prestigious journals and conferences. His publication list includes several research papers in the prestigious A*/A data science venues, e.g., ICDM, ECML/PKDD, EMNLP, PAKDD, CIKM, SAC, KAIS. According to Google scholar, Dr. Faisal Kamran’s H-index is 8, and his research work has more than 350 citations.
